For many people, especially young families, there’s always the fear of “what can we all do?” when moving to a new place. Fortunately, there is plenty to see and do in and around The Cays at Ocotillo neighborhood! From toddlers to adults, and every age group in between, there’s no shortage of fun, family-friendly activities to enjoy.
If you (or more likely, the kids) need to burn off some energy, there are more than 60 parks in the vicinity where it’s easy to go for a hike or try out mountain biking. Given the area’s warm, mild climate, it’s also not surprising that there are plenty of opportunities to try out a range of sports, too, such as swimming, running, golfing, and horseback riding. On the few days that the weather isn’t perfect, or if you need a break from the midday sun, you can also go to an equally fun place to play inside, like the 2.5 acre playground at Tumbleweed Park. There are also a number of other indoor family fun centers with something for everyone, such as an indoor amusement park and entertainment centers with arcade games, trampolines, slides, and more. Another fun place to go that offers entertainment for all ages is the escape room, which is a physical problem-solving game where participants are enclosed in a room and must work together, using a series of clues, to get out of the room. If you enjoy arts and culture, the Chandler Center for the Arts is a perfect place to take the family. Throughout the year, the center has a packed calendar of events, such as magic shows, concerts, dance performances, and ballets. The center’s much-anticipated annual events, which take place throughout the year, are another great way to get the family involved in the area’s arts and culture scene.
On a hot day, of course, there is always the option of cooling down in water. Luckily, the city has a variety of aquatic centers, spray pads, and pools where the family can go for an afternoon’s (or even an entire day’s) worth of fun! With all kinds of fun water activities, everyone is bound to find something within their comfort zone. The larger aquatic centers even have water slides, play pools, and natural currents that simulate swimming in outdoor areas, but in a safer and more controlled environment. If you want an all-in-one experience while you’re out with the family, you can go to a place like the Chandler Fashion Mall, which has a variety of shops along with a water activity center and plenty of delicious places to eat.
